The Hirshman family has proudly served the plumbing and heating supply needs of San Diego County and Northern Mexico for generations. El Cajon Plumbing and Heating Supply Company’s history began over 50 years ago when Mort and Naomi Hirshman fell in love and married after growing up on the same street in Philadelphia. After Mort’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy at the end of the Korean War, Mort applied his strong work ethic to his duties as a counterman and outside salesman of Pennsgrove Plumbing and Heating Supply, located in New Jersey. Upon the passing of Pennsgrove Plumbing and Heating Supply’s founder, Naomi’s father Jerry Dombro in 1956, Mort and Naomi took over the family business. By 1973 the Hirshmans sold their successful supply house to move their young family out west, where they happily made San Diego their new adopted home. With the purchase of 3 acres on Magnolia Ave. and a 5000 sq. ft. building, they proudly opened ECPH Co. Since then, Mort has served as director of the El Cajon Chamber of Commerce ’85-’88, is a member of the local historical society, and a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International. The Hirshman are annual contributors to many worthy charities including Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish, and the Salvation Army. Through hark work and continued honorable service to the community, ECPH has become a landmark and the truest expression of one great family’s American Dream.
